I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

If water is leaking, turn the water off at the nearest isolating valve and then at the mains valve outside. If you can’t locate the main valve or a tap to the appliance, then turn on the cold taps inside and out to depressurise the pipework and reduce the leak.

Once that’s done, give our team a call, no matter what the day or time is. We will be with you rapidly to get things sorted.

While you wait for our emergency plumber, clear away any significant items, clean up any water, and place a bucket to catch any drips. You should also switch off the hot water heating if the main water is turned off.
