I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

If water is leaking, turn off the water at the nearest location or at the mains valve outside. If you can’t locate the main isolation valve or a tap to the fixture, then turn on all the cold taps inside and out to depressurise the household pipework and reduce the leak.

Once you have stopped the leak from growing, give our emergency plumber a call, at any hour of the day or night. We will be there promptly to solve the issue.

While you wait for our plumber to arrive, start mopping up any water, place a bucket to catch drips, and clear away important possessions from the area. If the property water is turned off, then also switch off the heating for the hot water.
